Illustrated Stories Literacy Project
The Illustrated Stories Literacy Project provides free illustrated stories to:
1) children living in residential settings, such as group homes or orphanages
2) students attending schools that lack economic resources
3) public and school libraries
If you are a representative of a residential setting for children, a school or a library and would like to receive free stories for those that you serve, please follow these directions:
- Choose any of the stories listed below. Mention how many copies of each story you would like to receive--every child that you serve may receive one free story. Libraries may receive up to three copies of any story.
-
You may also download the stories from the links below and photocopy as many as you would like.
- Indicate the language or languages for the stories.
If you would like one or more of these stories to appear in another language, such as an indigenous/tribal language, please do the following:
- Send us a translation of the story or stories into that language. We will match the text with the appropriate illustrations and include the revised stories among those that are sent to your institution.
Final step--> Send us the mailing address for someone in the United States who will be visiting your institution. We will mail him or her the stories.
Note: All stories, except Anansi and Wisdom and stories from African Storybook, were produced using public domain illustrations.
